Before retirement, I was involved with some form of volunteering, but this increased significantly when I retired at the end of 2008.

This is a  list of the organisations for which I am currently volunteering.

    1. Poole Heart Support Group – after heart surgery a few years before retiring, I offered to become the secretary, and have been in this position since April 2003. This involves :
      1. Taking committee meeting minutes and then distributing them to the committee members
      2. Creating and updating this website
      3. Sending regularly updated news via e-newsletters to those members that have an email account.
      4. Participating in regular exercise sessions run by qualified BACPR instructors
      5. Participating occasionally in the cycle rides organised by PHSG
    2. AbilityNet – as a volunteer I assist disabled and older people at home to use technology to help with their everyday IT needs at home.
    3. Broadstone Stepping Stones – this is a local project to support people with memory loss and their carers. It was set up by Dame Annette Brooke, previously MP for Mid Dorset and North Poole. I am on the steering committee, and created and update the website.
    4. Corfe Mullen Dementia Friendly Community – The Corfe Mullen Dementia friendly community initiative was formally Launched by Dame Annette Brooke MP on the 14th March 2014. The aims are to support both the carer and the older person with dementia. I created and update the website.
    5. Growing Compassionate Communities – Growing Compassionate Communities is primarily about a community working towards inclusiveness of all diverse groups and peoples. I update the website.
    6. ARCH – Association of Residents of Canford Heath – a community organisation for Canford Heath, Poole. I created and update the website.
    7. STEM Ambassador – I am an ambassador for the STEM Learning organisation – and have assisted children in the age range 8 to 13 in computer coding in Scratch and HTML.
    8. Broadstone Community Speed Watch – I am a volunteer working with this group that monitors excess speeds in Broadstone, and also run the website.
